Bumble and Bumble New York

Designing for the beauty world is all about stripping away and authenticity. It was only a matter of time before it fell into the hands of the architects.

Vogue

This major US hair salon and retail products company is housed in an eight storey building in the meat-packing district. The design introduced a series of moveable layers and elements to this vast top floor space to break it down into pockets of activity blurring the traditional boundaries between retail, gallery, cafe, and photoshoot. The main device is a series of big perspex tube screens on castors reminiscent of giant shampoo foam bubbles. These ‘Bubble Screens’ incorporate demountable shelves and drawers and graphic display panels.
